Turkey ranked 106th out of 137 countries in the World Happiness Report 2023, rising six rows compared to last year.

The report considers income, health, having someone to count on, having a sense of freedom to make key life decisions, and the absence of corruption (in the government) when evaluating the surveys conducted in the countries.

The ranking of Turkey's neighbors is as follows: Greece is 58th, Bulgaria 77th, Armenia 79th, Georgia 90th, Iraq 98th, and Iran 101st. Azerbaijan and Syria are not on the list.

Turkey’s gross domestic product (GDP) has been way below the OECD average, and the country has been dealing with serious inflation problems in recent years. Turkey also ranked 108th among 180 countries in the Corruption Perception Index in 2022.

The World Happiness Report represents a global call for greater consideration of happiness and well-being in determining public policy. It examines the current condition of happiness in the world and demonstrates how the science of happiness explains differences in happiness at the individual and national levels.

In this regard, it is released annually in March as part of the International Day of Happiness celebration.
