Turkey's Health Ministry reported the arrival of another batch of Chinese Sinovac's COVID-19 vaccine on May 12, shortly after Bloomberg reported that the company granted Ankara a production license.

Sinovac CEO Weidong Yin said that they had granted production licenses to Turkey, along with Indonesia, Brazil, Malaysia and Egypt, adding that Ankara had already been supplied 20 million doses of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, a plane carrying another batch of Coronavac shots landed in Ankara on May 12, although the size of the supply was not specified by the Health Ministry.

Turkey had signed an agreement with the Chinese firm Sinovac for the procurement of 100 million doses and has administered over 25.33 million coronavirus jabs since launching a vaccination campaign on Jan. 14.

A little over 14.7 million people have received their first doses, while second doses have been given to over 10.62 million people, either of Sinovac or BioNTech treatments.
