Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has announced that musicians, film and TV series production teams will be able to get vaccinated without age limit starting on June 9.

“We are starting the vaccination of another group in our vaccination program. Musicians, film and TV series production teams will be able to get vaccinated starting tomorrow. By adding new occupation and age groups [to the vaccination program] every day, we will remove our country from the outbreak agenda,” Koca tweeted on June 8.

Shortly after this tweet, Koca announced that academics and university personnel will also be able to get their COVID-19 jabs starting on June 9.

“Another occupation group takes its place in the vaccination program. For our universities to start face-to-face education in September, we are starting the vaccination of our faculty members and university personnel tomorrow,” Koca tweeted.

Last week, the Health Ministry starting vaccinating people in the 50-55 age group, with a plan to decrease the age limit further to 20 in the upcoming months.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry on June 8 confirmed 6,609 new coronavirus cases and 86 deaths from the virus. The number of new cases on June 7 was 5,647.

Turkey has so far administered over 31.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines since it launched an inoculation drive in mid-January, according to official figures.

More than 18.1 million people have received their first doses, while over 13.2 million have been fully vaccinated, the Health Ministry said on June 8.
