Turkey to decide whether to open schools at the end of August
Turkish Education Minister Ziya Selçuk said that they would decide whether classes would be carried out remotely "at the end of August, beginning of September." The academic year is scheduled to start on August 31 so far.

Turkish Education Minister Ziya Selçuk said that they would decide whether the next school year would be carried out remotely at the end of August or beginning of September, after the academic year is due to start on August 31.
"We're legally bound to report an academic calendar. When we say schools will open on August 31, we're hoping they'll open on August 31," Selçuk said on July 9.
The ministry is planning everything towards opening schools on August 31, and will do so if the pandemic permit, Selçuk added.
"We could easily say whether or not schools will open then with the science committee's data but it's not right to expect us to do that."
The minister said that they will move according to the data "end of August, beginning of September."
Schools in Turkey have been closed since mid-March, following the diagnosis of the country's first COVID-19 patient.
