Turkey’s death toll from the coronavirus rose by 34 total 4,431 and new confirmed cases rose by 1,035 to bring the country’s total to 159,797, Health Ministry data showed on May 27.

"The data show that we have maintained a stability in reducing the risk. The 83 million people's success needs to continue. More freedom depends on whether we abide by the measures completely or not. Let's show the self-sacrifice which freedom wants. Our new life style is: controlled social life and taking measures all together," Health Minister Fahrettin Koca wrote on Twitter.

The government has recently launched a normalization process as the daily rise in COVID-19 cases slows down, and the Eid al-Fitr is said to be a breaking point in this process.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had previously said that Turkey will “have a double feast by the end of Ramadan,” although indicating that “a new type of normal” awaits the country.
