Turkey’s Erdoğan accidentally shares photos from event with senior intelligence officers
Turkish President Erdoğan initially shared photographs from an event featuring senior National Intelligence Organization (MIT) members, including their faces, on social media. Later, he deleted the post.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç on Jan. 10 shared photographs from the special event organized for the establishment of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) which was attended by senior intelligence officers as well.
Photographs of Erdoğan in the hall during his speech were shared on social media platform X, yet they showed the faces of the participants, including senior members of the MİT.
After a while, these photos were removed from Erdoğan and Tunç’s accounts.
According to the law on the National Intelligence Organization, the penalty for exposing MİT personnel is imprisonment from two to eight years.
On March 5, 2020, OdaTv News Director Barış Terkoğlu and journalist Hülya Kılınç were arrested for their news report on the funeral of a MİT member who lost his life in Libya, and access to the OdaTV website was blocked. OdaTV's editor-in-chief at the time, Barış Pehlivan, was also arrested on March 6 for the same reason.
