The leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has called for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to be a part of Azerbaijan, as he commented on the recent clashes in the South Caucasus region.

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli said that Armenia is "cruel" and it should "drown in the blood it spills."

Bahçeli's remarks came after Azerbaijan on Oct. 4 said that Armenia attacked Ganja and caused a civilian to die. Armenia denied the attack.

"It's a crime against humanity and a blatant violation and denial of international law for Armenia to target civilians in Ganja. The state of Armenia has once again showed its face that spreads cruelty," Bahçeli said on Oct. 4.

"Armenian gangs are spreading conflict zones to civilian areas as they get stuck. The Armenian mindset that engages in massacres is repeating what it did in the past," he said.

According to Bahçeli, the only opposition to peace and stability in South Caucasus is Armenia.

"The international society should not be indifferent to bloody and heinous attacks against the civilians," he said.

Bahçeli also said that Nagorno-Karabakh is "Turkish" and that Azerbaijan "is the homeland of Turkishness and an indispensable right."

"I condemn Armenia, which is a murderer and terror state, with hatred," he said.

The MHP leader then went on to call for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to be a part of Azerbaijan.

"It's a must, a historical obligation and an urgent need. It's a matter of life and death," Bahçeli said.
