Turkey’s lifelong learning centers, an umbrella term including municipal and training courses in the community, will resume in-person classes on Jan. 11, the Education Ministry said on Jan. 7.
“Our lifelong learning centers will resume operations on Jan. 11, after a pause since Nov. 20, 2019," the Education Ministry said. "Local public health offices reserve the right to pause or stop operations if they deem fit."
The COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey observed a peak at the end of 2019, but Health Ministry data has indicated a slight decrease in the number of daily diagnoses and deaths in recent weeks.
However, public trust in Health Ministry data is hardly sound, since Ankara confessed to veiling numbers from the public multiple times during the pandemic, first by excluding asymptomatic patients from the daily diagnoses, and later by failing to count certain deaths.
