The Turkish Interior Ministry said that senior citizens, aged above 65, would now be allowed to travel if they obtained a "travel for tourism document" on the government's online portal, a June 25 notice said.

Seniors will be mandated to offer an explanation about their residence and offer proof of a hotel reservation or a rent contract.

Seniors will also be offered permits to travel with their private vehicles, and the online government portal will scan their Health Ministry data to see whether they are ill or whether they've been self-isolating.

Anyone who's had an organ or bone marrow transplant in the past three years, persons suffering from immune deficiency and dialysis patients will not be allowed to obtain a travel permit.

Although senior citizens are allowed to go outside between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., the age group is still under curfew.
