In İzmir province's Bornova district, 10-year-old Mert Yetiştiren tragically lost his life after attempting a dangerous trend he saw on TikTok.

Influenced by videos on the platform, he poured cologne on himself and set it on fire with a lighter. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries after a 10-day battle for his life.

According to İhlas News Agency (İHA), the incident occurred on Dec. 17 when Yetiştiren was home alone. After watching videos of the "cologne-burning trend" on TikTok, he decided to try it himself.

Unable to extinguish the flames, he suffered severe burns. He managed to call his family, who then took him to the hospital. Despite all efforts, Mert passed away in the hospital.
