The Turkish Health Ministry has launched public service announcements encouraging Turks to get their COVID-19 vaccination shots.

The announcements feature two popular names on Turkish cinema, actors Şener Şener and Ezgi Mola, to send the message.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca shared the public announcements on his Twitter account, saying: “The most effective way to bring epidemics under control is today vaccination, as was the case before. Let's roll up sleeves for our health.”

“For us to meet again in movie theatres, concerts and theatres and to go back to our normal lives, you too get vaccinated,” says Şen in his message.

“We have gone through many things that we normally say happen in films, but it is in our hands to change the film's ending. Let's get vaccinated and continue our life in health from where we left it,” says Mola in her message.

Ankara currently administers vaccines developed by Sinovac, as well as by Pfizer and Biontech. Turkey also granted an emergency use authorization for Russia's Sputnik V. People over 25 are eligible for the vaccine.

Turkey has sharply accelerated COVID-19 vaccinations, delivering more than 1 million a day last week and prompting hopes of a rebound in the economy and tourism sector.
