Pegasus Airlines and Turkish Airlines (THY) on Nov. 18 announced they cancelled a total of 187 flights departing from Istanbul that were scheduled for Nov. 18 and 19 due to stormy weather conditions.

Turkish Airlines cancelled 105 flights, 82 of which were departing from Istanbul Airport and 23 from the Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Anatolian side. Pegasus Airlines, on the other hand, cancelled 82 flights departing from the Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

The companies stated that further cancellations could occur, and customers could track the status of their flights through the airlines’ websites and mobile applications.

The companies cancelled the flights as per the Meteorological Emergency Committee (MADKOM) decision, as storm conditions were expected to prevail in Istanbul throughout the weekend.

Strong winds also disturbed sea transportation in Istanbul, as ferries operating in the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara were cancelled.

Turkey’s disaster and emergency management agency (AFAD) issued mid-level storm warnings for Nov. 19 in 41 provinces.
