Turkish authorities arrest 5 suspects over murder of 15-year-old Syrian child

A Turkish court arrested five people over the murder of a 15-year-old Syrian child in Istanbul’s Gaziosmanpaşa district.

An Istanbul court on Sept. 27 arrested five suspects over the murder of a 15-year-old Syrian refugee child.

On Sept. 21, two people shot a 15-year-old Syrian child with the initials A.D. at a park in Istanbul’s Gaziosmanpaşa district. 

The child died on the same day in a hospital while receiving treatment. 

In a statement on Sept. 24, Istanbul police said they detained five people and added that the suspects “had fought with the deceased in the past and that the incident is believed to be motivated by revenge.” The police also confiscated two unlicensed pistols and one motorcycle.

An Istanbul court arrested the suspects K.C.Ö. (18), F.C.U. (18), Ö.C.U (20), R.K. (23), and M.T. (18) on the charge of “intentional killing.”

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers were dressed in black clothes and wore masks. They reportedly fired 12 shots at A.D.
