Turkish Communist Party protests gov’t in front of Central Bank, 20 detained
Some 20 members of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) have been detained for staging a protest in front of the Central Bank in the capital Ankara.

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP)’s Ankara provincial organization on June 19 held a protest in front of the Central Bank.
The TKP said in its statement, “We were in front of the Central Bank to bring those to account who robbed people, who impoverished us laborers day by day.”
“While they enjoy themselves at their palaces, holdings, and official chairs, if they think that people will merely sit by doing nothing, they are wrong. We are here to protect the nation!” the statement said.
Twenty TKP members were detained at the protest, according to reporting by Sol Haber.
The TKP called for the immediate release of the detainees.
