Turkish hacker defaces Trump's website, posts Erdoğan's video

A Turkish hacker named “RootAyyıldız” has defaced a section of Trump's campaign website and instead posted a video featuring Erdoğan. In a Facebook message, the attacker said that they carried out the attack to protest Biden's stance on Turkey.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign website which he launched in May was hacked and defaced on Oct. 18.

The hacker, who identifies as "RootAyyıldız," appeared to deface Trump’s campaign website and replaced it with an Islamic message and video featuring Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, CNN reported.

"Do not be like those who forget Allah, so Allah made them forget themselves. Here they really went astray," a part of the defacement reads.

On their Facebook profile, RootAyyıldız has a logo that reads "He is a Turkish Defacer."

The same hacker had reportedly attacked current U.S. President Joe Biden’s campaign website last year in November during the presidential elections.

In a Facebook message, the hacker told Insider that they carried out the attack because they had "hacked Joe Biden before and now he is Trump," asserting that the current U.S. president is "anti-Turkey and anti-Islam."

The hacker claimed to be a supporter of Erdoğan but not an agent of the Turkish government.

Facebook reportedly did not respond to a request for comment on whether it intends to remove the hacker's account.
