A man has been arrested after a 21-year-old woman was found dead in her home in Turkey's Aegean province of İzmir.
The authorities said they were treating the woman's death as suspicious.
The woman named Ceyda Yüksel was found dead in her home in Bornova district, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Aug. 20. The young woman had deep cuts in her body inflicted with broken glass, the agency said.
The man named Serkan Dindar, 28, said in his initial ceremony that he and Yüksel met on social media and stayed together for a couple of days. On the night of the incident, the two went to an entertainment venue and then came back home, he said.
Dindar said that he and Yüksel had an argument over a topic which he “did not remember” and again claimed to not remember anything about the death of the young woman. He said that a glass might have fallen on Yüksel.
Following his testimony at the prosecutor's office, Dindar was arrested on charges of “deliberate murder.”
