Ahmet Demir, a Turkish man in his thirties, on Oct. 12 first killed his wife and four children with a gun, and then died by suicide in the southeastern Gaziantep province.

Accordingly, the people close to the Demir family went to their house to check on the family after not hearing from them for a while.

Several police and medical teams were dispatched to the house after the family was found dead.

The Gaziantep Governor’s Office said in a statement that Demir first killed his wife and four children with a firearm and then died by suicide.

The statement added that Demir had bipolar disorder and psychological problems according to his relatives.

Farız Malat, one of the relatives of Demir, told Duvar that, “Ahmet had psychological problems. He had been receiving treatment for about two years. He was diagnosed as bipolar. He was receiving treatment and the treatment process was going well, but recently his discomfort increased again. In the last month, he was treated in the hospital for about a week.”

“He did not use drugs and was a well-behaved boy. He had bought the house he was living in a year ago and moved in. He had a barbershop. There was nothing wrong with this boy. We are also in shock. Six lives are gone,” Malat added.
