Turkish man shoots child, kills mother after not being allowed to marry 15-year-old

A Turkish man identified only as Erkan A. shot a 15-year-old child and killed her mother on Aug. 16 after the family refused his wish to marry the underage girl.

A 41-year-old man identified only as Erkan A. shot a woman and her 15-year-old daughter in the northern province of Samsun on Aug. 16 when the family wouldn't allow him to marry the child. 

The 52-year-old mother identified as Hacer A. died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, while the child, Ebru A., was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to her head. 

Neighbors called ambulances and gendarmerie to the scene of the crime and the mother was pronounced dead on the scene.

The perpetrator Erkan A. was reportedly detained shortly after the crime. 

Some 18 women were slain by men in Turkey in the month of June, and another 20 died under suspicious conditions, the We Will Stop Femicides Platform reported.
