The head of Turkey’s media watchdog Radio and Television High Council (RTÜK) Ebubekir Şahin on Feb. 15 announced that the council would investigate the upcoming “Love Island” (Aşk Adası) adaptation after the program’s trailer went viral on social media.

The program will air on the online platform GAİN, and adapt the popular “Love Island” concept where men and women live together in a villa and explore potential romantic connections.

The promotion went, “What would you take if you were stranded on an island? An energetic partner, a big mansion, a swimming pool, summer parties, endless fun? If you dream hard, you can have that island. We dreamed this island just for you…”

The show released its first trailer on Feb. 14 and went viral on social media. Şahin responded with a post on X that RTÜK conducted an initial investigation on the show.

The published trailer was from an unidentified third party, and was leaked without the knowledge of the online platform, suggested Şahin.

The statement concluded, “We would like to let everyone know that RTÜK which does not allow any production that is incompatible with our societal and cultural values, is closely monitoring the issue.”
