Turkish musicians ‘take the stage’ from home to mark World Art Day amid coronavirus pandemic

A group of academics from Istanbul's Maltepe University Conservatory performed from their homes rather than in real life on April 15 to mark World Art Day amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Maltepe University House Band performed Sarabande by George Frideric Handel with various instruments including the piano, flutes and the violin.
“In these days that we spend home, let’s keep our distance but not get cut off from art! Because art unites, heals and strengthens,” Maltepe University tweeted, along with a link to the performance.
The university also shared original footage of the performance on their social media accounts.
Following a suggestion from UNESCO, April 15, which is Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday, has been celebrated as World Art Day in Turkey since 2012.
