Workers Party (TİP) deputy Barış Atay's vehicle was damaged to reportedly make him have a car accident in the southern border province of Hatay, the party said.

Five studs were removed from the car as part of the sabotage attempt to make the car get overturned in an accident, it said, adding that technical examinations were carried out by the governor's office and police.

"The vehicle used by our provincial branch and our deputy leader Barış Atay Mengüllüoğlu was sabotaged. One of our friends noticed the issue when he was driving without suffering from an accident," the party said on June 13.

"The perpetrators of this heinous attack should know that no power can stop the Workers Party. We'll be following the case until the perpetrators are found and handed necessary sentences," it added.

Earlier, Atay shared a picture of the car, as he hoped that the removal of the studs "is not what we think it is."

"We are warning you! Either you find the perpetrators or we do," Atay said.
