Kalın and Moore discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties with regard to security issues and foreign policies, the agency said.

The two officials also reportedly discussed developments in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, while also exchanging ideas on common security policies for stability in the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean.

This is the first time that Moore has officially visited Turkey after being named as the new chief of MI6 in July.

Moore, who served as British ambassador to Turkey from January 2014 to December 2017, succeeded Sir Alex Younger. A fluent Turkish speaker, Moore studied at Oxford and first joined MI6 in 1987.
