Two Beşiktaş players test positive for coronavirus

The Turkish football club Beşiktaş announced on June 25 that two of its players have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The Istanbul club said that treatment has started for the players whose names were not disclosed.

Two football players from the Beşiktaş team in the Turkish Super Lig have tested positive for COVID-19, the club announced on June 25.

“Allplayers, technical staff and club employees were tested for the virusat the BJK Nevzat Demir training facility on June 24, Wednesday. Twofootballers tested positive for COVID-19, according to the results,''Beşiktaş said in a statement.

The Istanbul club said that treatment has started for the players whose names were not disclosed.

Fenerbahçe, Trabzonspor and Galatasaray along with the Turkish Football Federation (TTF) and the Turkish Basketball Federation sent well wishes to Beşiktaş on Twitter.

Super Lig resumed it season on June 12 without spectators after a three-month break because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Turkey suspended its football, basketball and volleyball leagues in March.

Since then, a number of football clubs reported coronavirus cases among its players and staff.

Despite criticism, the Turkish Football Federation announced in May that that its Super Lig will end on July 26 after clubs complete their remaining matches.
