A suspect in the 8-year-old girl Narin Güran’s murder case, Nevzat Bahtiyar, confessed more regarding the murder, the daily Sözcü reported on Sept. 21.

Güran went missing on Aug. 21 in Diyarbakır’s Tavşantepe village. Her dead body was found found on Sept. 8 in a stream near her village.

The neighbor Bahtiyar previously confessed that he put the dead body of the murdered girl in a stream inside a sack upon the instruction of the girl’s uncle and the village head Salim Güran for 200,000 liras. Accordingly, he received the dead body from the uncle. Salim Güran is the brother of Narin Güran’s father Arif Güran.

Bahtiyar applied to the court to “tell everything he knows” because he was “feeling remorse.”

Bahtiyar said uncle Salim Güran strangled Narin Güran to death because she saw that he and the girl’s mother Yüksel Güran were having sex.

Bahtiyar said the uncle invited him to Narin Güran’s house on Aug. 21, the day that Narin Güran went missing.

“The doors of all the rooms were closed except one. I did not see anyone inside the house except mother Yüksel and (brothers) Enes, Eren and Muhammed Güran. Salim took me to one of the room, I saw Narin lying without moving on the floor. As far as I remember, Narin had a foamy liquid in her mouth,” he said.

“Salim told me, 'I killed this girl because she saw me and Yüksel together. Now you are my accomplice. Since you witnessed this incident, you will dispose this corpse. Otherwise I will take your son from the football school he attends and have him shot in the head. Dispose this and then I will give you 200,000 liras… Dismember the body if necessary, then throw it into the Eğertutmaz stream’. Then Salim and I put the body in a blanket together. I left the house with the (dead) body,” he further said.

Bahtiyar then explained how he placed the dead body inside a sack in the Eğertutmaz stream north of the Tavşantepe village.

Bahtiyar also said that the girl’s mother, Yüksel Narin, was crying while he was going to the stream with the dead body.

“After the incident, I did not meet Salim face to face or by phone. When I saw him a few days later, he greeted me with an eyebrow gesture. I don't know whether Salim saw where I left the dead body, but the Eğertutmaz stream is clearly visible from the higher parts of the village. Therefore Salim could have seen where I left the body by watching me from behind. This is exactly how the incident happened. But I definitely did not kill Narin,” Bahtiyar concluded.

12 people have been so far arrested regarding the murder, including uncle Salim Güran, mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, aunt Hediye Güran, and Nevzat Bahtiyar.
