"Is discrimination the case when distributing tests to Diyarbakır and other provinces in the region?" Paylan, who is a Diyarbakır lawmaker, said in his parliamentary question following reports on the issue.

"The fact that such a little amount of tests are carried out in a city with a population of nearly 2 million people and where people died from coronavirus is incomprehensible," he also said.

Turkey's death toll from the new coronavirus rose by 75 on April 6 to total 649, and new confirmed cases rose by 3,148 to bring the country's total to 30,217, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Twitter.

He said 21,400 tests for the COVID-19 disease had been performed in Turkey in the last 24 hours.
