As lira plummets, Bulgarians choose Turkey to shop for medicine
Bulgarians, who have been visiting Edirne for shopping amid the lira's collapse, have been buying medicine from Turkey. A pharmacist said that Bulgarians find the drugs way cheaper in Turkey compared to their home country.
Duvar English - Bulgarians have been doing their medicine shopping in Turkey amid the lira's rapid loss of value against foreign currency.
Pharmacies in the western province of Edirne are filled with Bulgarians purchasing mainly paracetamols, pain killers and high blood pressure medication, Demirören News Agency reported on Dec. 15.
They have also been buying boxes of anti-flu medicine, pharmacists said, adding that they find the drugs way cheaper in Turkey compared to their home country.
"It's rush hour every day. We're experiencing a serious increase in the number of customers," pharmacist Hüseyin Badem said.
