Istanbul born and New York-based Ali Tufan Koç is an editor, writer, and speaker whose passion for journalism began in his early years of college. He joined Hurriyet Turkey in 2012 after having worked as a Feature Editor at GQ Turkey since the launch of the magazine. Prior to joining GQ Turkey, he worked for many years as a cultural columnist at daily newspapers (Milliyet and Radikal) throughout Istanbul, Turkey.
He regularly facilitates classes at The School of Life, and runs a New York-based independent magazine called, SUMAC. His first book, a novella called “No One Dies in This City: A 24-hour Journey in New York Subways” published in 2019 in Turkey.
He lives in Brooklyn and studies a master program focusing Digital Innovation and New Media at NYU.
