A private-run coal mine located in the Amasra district of Turkey’s northern Bartın province collapsed on Oct. 26.

The ceiling of the mine collapsed while work was being carried out 300 meters below ground, trapping miner Ferdi Tayyar under the collapse, Demirören News Agency reported.

35-year-old Tayyar lost his life in a hospital while receiving treatment on the same day.

Tayyar was reportedly working as a miner for one year.

The collapsed mine is operated by the Hattat Energy and Mining firm.

Previously, another coal mine collapsed in the same district in October 2022 after an explosion, killing 43 miners.
