A company that has Education Minister Ziya Selçuk's brother Oktay Selçuk on its board of directors, has sold supplies worth 25.6 million Turkish Liras to several private schools and public institutions in the last two years, OdaTV reported on June 23.
Other than Oktay Selçuk, the company named “Inova Akademi Bilişim Eğitim Hizmetleri” has Selçuk Özdemir on its board of directors, another name known for its close ties to Minister Selçuk.
Minister Selçuk is known for founding the Maya chain of private schools in 2002. After being appointed to his government post, he transferred the schools' ownership to his brother.
OdaTV reporter Sami Menteş said that private school owners “have become exasperated” with the company run by Minister Selçuk's brother, sharing several documents proving the sales.
Menteş had previously brought to light the Trade Ministry's disinfectant purchase from dismissed Minister Ruhsar Pekcan's company.
