The Ankara branch of Turkey's Chamber of Architects has said that a company has been constructing a wedding hall on the land of the city's iconic Atatürk Forest Farm, branding the company's act as "coronavirus opportunism."
Tezcan Karakuş Candan, the branch's head, said that the construction on the 343,000-meter-square area is disguised under "landscape design."
"Coronavirus opportunists are working. Everyone's concerned on their health, but they are still after land rent and looting," Candan said about the Pusay Tourism Logistic Co. Ltd.
"Those who open the land entrusted to the people by the founder of this country, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, to construction and commerce will account for their acts in court," she added.
The forest farm was established in 1925 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, as a private farm. It is a recreational area, which houses several small agricultural farms, greenhouses, restaurants, a dairy farm and a brewery.
