Turkey adopted new measures early on March 24 on shopping and transportation in an effort to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The Interior Ministry issued a notice saying all grocery stores will only provide service between 09:00 and 21:00 local time.
Notably, only a certain number of people will be allowed to shop at one time, depending on the size of the store. All of the shops will put up a sign at their entrance indicating how many customers can come in the store at the same time. The customers will be always reminded that they need to keep a distance of at least 1 meter between each other.
The Interior Ministry also said that as part of the new measures, all intercity and intra-city buses will be allowed to carry only half their capacity.
According to the latest official figures, Turkey has 1,529 confirmed coronavirus cases and the death toll stands at 37.
