Turkey's medical staff will not be allowed to quit jobs for the next 3 months

Turkey's Health Ministry said on March 27 that medical staff in both public and private institutions will not be allowed to quit their jobs for the next three months amid the coronavirus outbreak.

A notice sent to the country's 81 provincial health authorities said that the decision was taken during a meeting of the Health Ministry's “Capacity Evaluation Commission.”

“Within the context of the struggle against the coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19) in our country, the continuation of the health personnel in health institutions as it current stands is important for the sustainability of health services; therefore, it has become imperative for a regulation to be undertaken regarding the resignation of these personnel working at health institutions,” said the notice.

“As part of the epidemic process, for three months starting from the date of adoption of this decision [on March 27], it has been decided that medical staff working in public and private institutions will not be allowed to resign from their posts/jobs until a second notice,” it said.
