In the Amasra district in northwestern Turkey, officials had to limit vehicle entry into the historical peninsula.
20,000 vehicles entered the town in a single day, blocking traffic and obstructing pedestrian flow in the town square.
In the southeastern Urfa and Antep provinces, the ancient site of Göbeklitepe and the Zeugma Mosaics Museum welcomed record numbers of visitors.
