The Eastern Express is a route the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) began using in the summer of 2019. It goes from the capital Ankara to the city of Kars, located on Turkey's easternmost border.
The train's locomotive and generator car were put back onto the rails with the help of a crane.
The accident resulted in the railway's temporary closure.
Authorities from the TCDD noted that the damaged railways were still under repair.
