Some 21 passengers were injured in the 24-vehicle accident, and all of the wounded passengers were transported to nearby hospitals. 

The road was blocked off in the direction going to Istanbul after the pile-up occurred around 4.45 a.m., forming a long queue of vehicles.

The pile-up started when a lorry tipped over after sliding on the concrete because of the rain. 

Other lorries collided into the first one, followed by other vehicles including passenger buses.
