Earthquakes, elections dominate 2023's top searches in Turkey on Google
The Feb. 6 earthquakes, general elections, and presidential elections dominated the top Google searches in Turkey during 2023.
Turkey dominantly searched for Feb. 6 earthquakes and May 14 elections in 2023, according to the search engine giant Google's Year in Search 2023 report.
Feb. 6 earthquakes killing more than 50,000 people became the third most searched news in global after "War in Israel and Gaza" and "Titanic submarine."
Far-right ATA alliance's presidential candidate Sinan Oğan became the top searched person in the list.
Arrested social media influencer Dilan Polat, footballer Dazet Wilfried Armel Zaha from Galatasaray, main opposition Nation Alliance's presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and Homeland Party's presidential candidate Muharrem İnce followed him in the list.
"Where did earthquake happen," became the most searched item under "where" questions.
People also wanted to learn the location of quake-torn Kahramanmaraş province's Elbistan district, Gaza, and Morocco. The fifth top search was "Where am I going to vote."
