Turkish economist becomes director of IMF strategy, policy department
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that Turkish economist Ceyla Pazarbaşıoğlu would be serving as the head of the IMF's Strategy, Policy and Review Department. Georgieva said that Pazarbaşıoğlu had "profound knowledge and significant experience on how to design policies to help people especially in emerging markets and low-income countries."

Pazarbaşıoğlu is currently World Bank's Vice President for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions (EFI), and will be starting her position at the IMF on Sept. 15.
Georgieva said that Pazarbaşıoğlu had "profound knowledge and significant experience on how to design policies to help people especially in emerging markets and low-income countries."
An official statement on the assignment noted that before the World Bank, Pazarbaşıoğlu had a 23-year-long career at the IMF "where she rose through the ranks and became a deputy director of the Monetary and Capital Markets (MCM) Department."
