While he won the Bundesliga as the head coach of VfB Stuttgart in 1992, he became an icon of Turkish football giants Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş.
A former football player, Daum started his managerial career at FC Cologne in 1990, before transferring to VfB Stuttgart.
He first took charge of Beşiktaş in 1994, winning the Turkish championship title and Turkish cup in two years.
After a brief period again in Beşiktaş between 2001 and 2002, he took charge of Fenerbahçe in 2003. He won the Turkish league two consecutive years in 2004 and 2005, and resigned after losing the race to rival Galatasaray.
He later returned to Fenerbahçe for the 2009-2010 season, and was sacked after losing the title to Bursaspor.
He also had a brief period at Bursaspor between 2013 and 2014.
He also managed Bayer Leverkusen, Austria Wien, Eintracht Frankfurt, Club Brugge, and the Romanian national team.
Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Bundesliga bid farewell to Daum.
Rest in peace, Christoph Daum🙏
