No fatalities were reported in the immediate aftermath of the fire, although locals said that at least 20 animals had died in the disaster. 

Firefighters were still working on putting out the fire that devoured almost one-fifth of the 176-house settlement a few hours after it started in the afternoon. 

The village welcomed firefighters from surrounding areas to combat the flames and squads from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

Firefighters are still trying to locate the source of the fire, the district governor said.
