Human traffickers who promised 84 migrants passage to Italy left them stranded in the Aegean province of Aydın on Jan. 7.
The migrants reportedly paid the human traffickers one thousand euros per person for passage to Italy.
The 84 migrants from Syria, Egypt, and Afghanistan were detained by the gendarmerie, and will reportedly be taken to the Aydın Migration Directorate.
Officers also recovered eight floats and six pumps used to inflate them near to where the migrants were found.
