Int'l athletes climb breathtaking frozen waterfalls in eastern Turkey
Sixteen professional climbers from seven countries climbed frozen waterfalls in the eastern province of Erzurum as part of an international festival held in the city.
The "8th Emrah Özbay International Ice and Rock Climbing Festival" was held in the eastern province of Erzurum. The festival is organized every year in memory of the national athlete Emrah Özbay who lost his life in 2014.
As part of the event, 16 professional climbers from seven countries came to the province and went to the Torturm and Uzundere districts to climb 13 frozen waterfalls.
During the one-week event, breathtaking photos were taken showing the athletes climbing with their special equipment the frozen waterfalls up to 300 meters high.
