Istanbul’s Şişli Municipality has sealed Torun Center due to “construction contrary to the project.” Located in Istanbul’s central neighborhood of Mecidiyeköy, the center was built on the land of Galatasaray’s former stadium.

Istanbul’s Şişli Municipality on Oct. 17 sealed Torun Center which included several residences, offices, and shops, according to reporting by Oda TV.
The inspections that the Şişli Municipality Building Control Directorate carried out revealed that “floor concretes were cut” in the scope of a “simple repair permit” for several apartments at Block D.
The memorandum written by the municipality stated that many apartments on eight different floors of the building had been combined by cutting the interior walls and concretes, and making an illegal construction of approximately 12,000 square meters.
Meanwhile, the municipal officials told Habertürk that the columns were not cut as alleged.
Torun Center is located in Istanbul’s central neighborhood of Mecidiyeköy. It was built after Galatasaray’s former stadium Ali Sami Yen was demolished on the same land.
