18.5 percent of the respondents said that their favorite street food was kokoreç. Kokoreç is a form of a sandwich with grilled sheep’s intestines with a history originated in the Balkans’ Orthodox Christian culture as a special Eastern food.
Döner took the second place with 18.2 percent. This special dish especially became known in Europe after the migration of Turkish workers in the 1960's onwards.
In the survey, the participants were asked whether they chose chicken döner or meat döner. While 82.3 percent of the participants preferred meat döner, 17.7 percent said they prefer chicken döner.
14.5 percent of the respondents said their favorite street food was simit (also referred to as Turkish bagel). It is especially widespread to consume simit in breakfasts in Turkey.
