Over 5,000 applicants fail drug tests for service bus driver position in Istanbul
More than 5,000 people who applied to become service bus drivers in Istanbul failed drug tests, the municipality reported on Aug. 27. The city is expected to have more than 18,000 school buses in traffic with the opening of schools on Sept. 6 and some 324,000 students are estimated to ride on the vehicles.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has conducted drug tests on 141,350 people who applied for drivers' positions throughout the city, the municipality announced.
Among them, 5,315 applications tested positive, the municipality said, adding that the position included spots for school bus drivers.
Around 18,000 school buses are expected to enter traffic on Sep. 6 when schools open, the municipality noted, adding that 324,000 students are expected to be traveling on school buses.
