Prosecutor deems Demirtaş's book 'terrorist organization document'

A prosecutor has deemed the storybook penned by the former co-chair of the People's Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş, a "terrorist organization document." Last year, a man named Necmettin İşlek was detained in the southeastern province of Bitlis and was accused of terrorist organization membership, with one of the evidence being cited as having Devran at his home.

A prosecutor has deemed the storybook penned by the former co-chair of the People's Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş, a "terrorist organization document."

Demirtaş's lawyer Mahsuni Karaman slammed the decision, saying that the tide will turn one day.

Devran was previously also deemed as evidence in a separate investigation into Demirtaş, who has been behind bars since Nov. 4, 2016, on charges related to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Last year, a man named Necmettin İşlek was detained in the southeastern province of Bitlis and was accused of terrorist organization membership, with one of the evidence being cited as having Devran at his home.

Prosecutors at the time said that the book "tries to praise PKK members."
