The Turkish government on Nov. 27 announced that the revaluation rate, a mechanism used to adjust various financial and tax-related figures, such as taxes, fines, and fees, would be 43.93 percent in 2025.

In the next year, traffic fines, motor vehicle taxes (MTV), driver’s license fees, passport charges and departure fee, vehicle inspection fees, and phone registration fees will all increase in accordance with the revaluation rate.

The registration fee for IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) for mobile phones brought from abroad has risen from about 31,700 Turkish liras to 45,600 liras ($1,300).

For the shortest validity passports (up to 6 months), the fee will rise to around 2,400 liras. For longer-term passports, those valid for more than three years, the fee will increase to about 11,300 liras.

The departure fee paid by citizens leaving Turkey has increased from 500 liras to 720 liras.

The cost for obtaining a Class B driver's license, which applies to car, minibus, and light truck drivers, has increased from about 3,950 liras to 5,700 liras. Additionally, vehicle inspection fees have been raised from approximately 1,800 liras to 2,600 liras.

The minimum Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) has also been increased from around 3,400 liras to 4,800 liras. For the most common engine sizes, the minimum MTV has risen from about 5,850 liras to 8,400 liras.

Due to the revaluation rate, traffic fines will also increase, with penalties such as using a mobile phone while driving, running a red light, or failing vehicle inspection rising to about 2,200 liras, driving an unregistered vehicle to 9,300 liras, failing to wear a seatbelt or violating parking regulations to 990 liras, occupying a handicapped parking space to 1,990 liras, failing to install winter tires to 5,900 liras, and driving under the influence of alcohol (first offense) to 9,300 liras.
