Vodafone Turkey will be the first in the nation to offer paternity leave by giving men the same amount of paid time off as women following the birth or adoption of a child.
"The practice, new to the Vodafone Group, will go into application first in Turkey, on Jan. 1 2020," said Bülent Bayram, co-director of the Vodafone Turkey executive board.
Women in Turkey get 8 weeks off prior to and after birth, as well as 1 day off every week after returning to the office. In 2020, men will be able to use these 16 weeks off any time within the first 18 months of the birth or adoption of a child, either all at once or in 4 blocks of time.
The policy will be applicable for all new parents who haven't given birth starting April 2020, in all 24 countries the Vodafone Group functions in.
