"Watering dams and incorrect agricultural practices around Lake Salda have caused the lake and streams to dry up, shrinking endemic species' habitats," the organization said.
An intense presence of visitors has caused the local geographical structures to deteriorate and become muddy, the association added.
Formerly known for its white sand and turquoise waters, the lake became the site of a People's Garden construction that built public facilities and a parking lot in the area, encouraging more and more visitors to come.
Home to hundreds of endemic birds and fish, Lake Salda should be placed under state protection and sanctioned from public damage, the association said.
