Thousands of people attend funeral ceremony of man who died of COVID-19
In defiance of COVID-19 restrictions, thousands of people, including governors, mayors and political party representatives, on Jan. 25 attended the funeral ceremony of a retired Quran course teacher who had died of the virus.
Thousands of people, including state officials and mayors, on Jan. 25 attended the funeral ceremony of a retired Quran course teacher who had died of the COVID-19, although funerals are capped at 30 people.
The ceremony took place in the Black Sea province of Giresun's Bulancak district. Bulancak Mayor Recep Yakar released on social media some photos showing the extent of the crowds at the ceremony.

Following the funeral prayers held at the Sarabyburnu Mosque, the 91-year-old Nuri Genç was buried at his home village of Tepeköy. The deceased was the father of Yusuf Genç, the Giresun deputy provincial mufti.
Following his death, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the head of Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), released a message of condolences on his social media account. The 91-year-old was a board member of the Diyanet foundation.
