Thousands pray for rain in the face of drought upon Turkish top religious body's call
Thousands of people across Turkey have prayed for rain amid the ongoing threat of drought in the country upon the calls of Diyanet. Interestingly enough, meteorological authorities earlier said that the week of Dec. 14 is expected to be rainy.
Thousands of people have prayed for rain in mosques across Turkey following a call from the country's Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet).
Diyanet on Dec. 10 called on all Muslims to pray for rain as the country faces drought due to the lack of rain that caused water levels in dams to decrease to concerning levels.
The country has also been seeing an unusually warm fall and winter, prompting authorities to urge people to consume less water.
Thousands of people prayed for rain following Friday prayers in 81 provinces on Dec. 11, with imams talking about the importance of water during their sermons.
